PRESS RELEASE: Moorhead Public Service Celebrates Being a ‘Smart Energy Provider’

In 2023, Moorhead Public Service (MPS) earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from American Public Power Association for demonstrating a commitment to, and proficiency in, energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and environmental initiatives that support the goal of providing safe, reliable, low-cost, and sustainable electric service.
The SEP designation, which lasts for two years before utilities need to reapply, is held by 97 of the nation’s nearly 2,000 public power utilities. During SEP Week, February 12 - 16, 2024, designated utilities will take the opportunity to shine a light on the “smart” programs that have gone toward earning the designation. The theme of SEP Week this year is “We Love Smart Energy.”
In Moorhead, MPS provides energy efficiency programs, rebates for residential and businesses, and assists customers interested in distributed generation and environmental initiatives. These types of programs demonstrate a commitment that supports MPS’ goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe, reliable electric service, as well as communication and customer engagement.
