Electricity is a powerful resource with many benefits, but also with many dangers. MPS has a responsibility to help educate our customers about electric safety. As a locally-owned, non-profit utility, we seek to be involved in the community we serve. Our electric safety programs meet those goals.

Play it safe With Electricity

MPS' original partnership with the schools in 1988 resulted in an electrical safety program that reaches more than 2,000 kindergarten through third grade students in all public and private schools each year. Taking a bunch of "live wires" and teaching them about electrical safety could be a daunting challenge, but teachers consistently give the program an "A".

Call Before You Dig: (811)

Anyone digging in Minnesota must call before digging. The person who is doing the work is responsible for calling Gopher State One Call (GSOC). If the owner contracts with a professional excavator to do the excavation then the professional excavator is responsible for calling GSOC.
