Water Operations
Operations:
Each day, Moorhead Public Service customers use an average of 4 million
gallons of water. Around the clock, our highly trained and experienced
professionals operate the Water Treatment Plant. Of the nine full-time
licensed operators, all nine hold Class A licenses (the highest of four possible
designations, from A through D). Together, they have
over 130 years of experience. This superior level of knowledge and expertise
contribute to the quality water coming out of your tap.
Eight-five percent of Moorhead's water comes from the Red River, while
the rest is pumped from a total of seven wells. Moorhead is fortunate to have multiple water-supply sources. MPS stands
ready to meet customers' needs in case of drought or possible contamination
of any of our water resources.
Customer Base:
Moorhead Public Service provides water and water service to residents and
businesses within the City of Moorhead. MPS also sells water to residents of
Oakport and Americana Estates, as well as wholesale water supply to the City
of Dilworth.
