GROUNDBREAKING FOR WIND TURBINE SET FOR WEDNESDAY
Moorhead Public Service customers who signed up as Charter
Members of the Capture The Wind® program will be one
step closer to purchasing wind-generated electricity as ground
is broken for construction of the new wind turbine on Wednesday,
December 16, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. A concrete foundation on
which the 750-kilowatt wind turbine will be located will be
built, as the first phase of construction gets underway this
week.
(Directions: Go north on 11th Street North in Moorhead to
15th Avenue North. Turn right onto 15th Avenue North going past
Centennial Ball Fields. Turn left and head north again just
before the gravel road. Wind turbine site is directly east of
the wastewater treatment plant.)
The
watermain break was reported yesterday afternoon. Once MPS water
crews arrived on the scene, they began removing ice and snow
from the storm sewer to allow the water from the leak to drain
from the street. It wasn't until early this morning that MPS
water crews were able to locate the break.
"We're
contending with two leaks," says McLain, "Along with
the break in the water main, our water crews also located a
couple leaky valves."
MPS
crews anticipate completing repairs on the broken watermain this
evening, waiting until tomorrow morning, when traffic will again
be rerouted, to mend the leaky valves.
