Water Main Break in South Moorhead

Road Closed while Moorhead Public Service Crews Make Repair

This afternoon, Friday, January 23, 2009, a water main break was discovered along Fourteenth Street in south Moorhead.  The break, which occurred just north of Ninth Avenue South, is believed to be caused by the cold temperatures and aging pipes. 

MPS crews have begun the repair work on this break and will work on the project until the water main is repaired, which is expected to be sometime after 6:00 pm.  As a result of the repair work, Moorhead Public Service (MPS) has closed 14th Street South from Sixth Avenue South to Ninth Avenue South until at least 6:00 pm.  Water service to adjacent Minnesota State University-Moorhead buildings will also be effected as repairs are completed.

MPS is a community-owned utility serving the residents of Moorhead, Minnesota, with electricity, water, and broadband Internet access.
