Power Restored Quickly in Moorhead

A lightning arrestor failed at the Centennial Substation in Moorhead at 1:00 am this morning causing the Centennial Substation to automatically open a breaker. As a result, approximately 5,500 Moorhead Public Service (MPS) customers experienced a short power outage lasting approximately 60 seconds. Due to MPS’ protection system, the system recovered rapidly and MPS’ electric crews responded quickly to make the needed repairs.

MPS is a community-owned utility serving the residents of Moorhead, Minnesota, with electricity and water.
