At its annual conference in Duluth, Minnesota this week, the Minnesota Section of the American Water Works Association awarded Moorhead with the "2009 Best in Glass" award.
Moorhead competed against eight other Minnesota cities for this award. Water industry professionals attending the conference tasted water samples from all nine competing communities and voted on the best tasting. The top three vote recipients competed in a panel of experts and Moorhead came out on top-edging out St. Cloud and Bloomington. With this award, Moorhead's water will now compete nationally at the AWWA Annual Conference held in Chicago in June 2010.
Other participants in the 2009 Best in Glass competition included Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Edina, International Falls, Minneapolis, Plymouth, St. Cloud, and St. Paul.
MPS would like to congratulate and thank all the MPS Water Division employees for their hard work to ensure we have great water in Moorhead!
