Power outage affects 3,600 customers in Moorhead
Moorhead Public Service (MPS) crews are working on rerouting power to over 3,600 customers in south Moorhead Friday afternoon. At approximately 3:00 p.m., while MPS crews were working on the installation of a new transformer at the Southeast Substation, the main feed into the substation faulted, causing the entire substation and the 3,600 customers served by the substation, to lose power.
MPS' distribution system is designed to transfer power between substations in the event a substation loses power. Crews are beginning the process of transferring power around the system and are hoping to have power restored to all customers by 4:30 p.m.
MPS is a community-owned utility serving the residents of Moorhead, Minnesota, with electricity, water, and broadband Internet access.
