Tree Branch Takes Out Power780 Moorhead Public Service Customers Affected
The storms of Thursday night, June 26, 2008, took their toll on Moorhead Public Service (MPS) power lines in south Moorhead. At 11:15 pm, a circuit coming from the Centennial Substation tripped. MPS Crews were dispatched to the 500 block of 4th Avenue South and discovered a tree branch had fallen on the power lines. The crews began working to remove the tree branch from the wires, and power was restored at 12:04 Am.
Although, in this instance, the tree did not cause the power line to break, MPS would like to remind the public of the safety hazards of downed power lines. If anyone comes across a downed power line, STAY AWAY from the line as it may still have power running through it. If the line is in Moorhead, please call 299-5418, or, in an emergency, dial 911.
MPS is a community-owned utility serving the residents of Moorhead, Minnesota, with electricity, water, and broadband Internet access.
