MPS is now meeting water demands with 60 percent of its water from wells located in the Buffalo Aquifer, east of Dilworth. The remaining 40 percent is still coming from the Red River. When the switch was made from river water to well water, Moorhead's water supply developed an odor. MPS water operators and the water plant chemist are working on removing the odor and taste and should have the issue resolved later today. The water supply in Moorhead is safe. MPS staff tests the water on a regular basis, and although there is an odor in the water, the water is safe for use. MPS also wants to remind citizens to restrict water use as much as possible to ease the burden on the sanitary and storm sewer system, which are currently operating at capacity. Important Numbers:
MPS is a community-owned utility serving the residents of Moorhead, Minnesota, with electricity, water, and broadband Internet access. ###
