Minimum Billing: A General Service customer shall pay no less than a minimum amount each month. The minimum shall be 30% of a customer's total energy and demand billed in the month of MPS' peak demand established in the most recent six-month seasonal billing period (winter or summer) that corresponds to the current seasonal billing period. Seasonal billing periods are:
Winter Season: November-April
Summer Season: May-October
Demand: The billing demand is the greatest 15-minute load in kW during the billing period. (Subject to adjustment if the power factor is low).
Power Factor: The customer shall maintain a power factor as near to 100% as practicable. When the highest 15-minute load in kVA exceeds 115% of the highest 15-minute load in kW, the kW demand will be increased by 0.2 kW for each such excess kVA
X-Ray Machines, Transformer-Type Welders, etc.: When the customer has equipment with intermittent and rapidly fluctuating load characteristics, the fixed charge in the rate will be increased by $.50 per kVA of excess capacity provided by MPS to prevent impairment of service.

Minimum Billing: For a customer using less than 1,000 kWh in the previous 11 months, the minimum bill shall be $13.50.
For a customer using between 1,000 and 10,000 kWh, the minimum bill shall be 30% of the customer's billing in the month of MPS' peak demand during the most recent six-month seasonal billing period.

Interruptible Rates
Availability: Available to General Service customers with a minimum of 100 kW of interruptible electrical load. Service under these rates requires conformance with MPS' Electric Service Rules and Regulations.
Curtailable Loads: Customers agree to manually curtail demand to a specified maximum demand level during the utility's curtailment period. General Service rate applies with credit for interruption as follows:
Curtailable Credit: $6.00/kW of curtailable demand
Customer Generation: Customer agrees to curtail demand by generating during the utility's curtailment period. The General Service rate applies with credit for reduced demand as follows:
Generation Credit: $7.00/kW of generated demand
