As a community-owned utility, Moorhead Public Service is proud of what we do for our community and want students to realize the value that a municipal utility brings to a community. Because of that desire, the Moorhead Public Service Commission is, again, offering the Public Power Essay Scholarship Contest. Students are encouraged to submit an original 500- to 1,000-word essay with the topic "Municipal Utilities: Good for All of Us."
The Moorhead Public Service Commission will award a $1,000 scholarship to the first place winner and a $500 scholarship to the second place winner. The first place winner may also qualify for an entry into the state-wide competition through the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) for a chance at an additional $2,000, $1,500, $1,000, or $500 scholarship.
