Construction nearly complete on Turbine 2!
Construction crews have nearly completed work on Moorhead Public Service's
second wind turbine generator. According to Christopher Reed, energy
services and marketing director, a crew of ten people should finish
assembling the turbine by the week of August 27, 2001.

Earlier in August, crews unloaded turbine parts from six
semi-trailer trucks and erected a massive 300-ton crane to build MPS's
second wind turbine generator in northeast Moorhead. The construction site
for this wind 750-kilowatt turbine is located approximately 1,800 feet east
of Zephyr, the utility's first wind turbine.
Crews poured a 44-square concrete foundation for the newest wind turbine in
July. The foundation contains 24 tons of rebar!
